A la cascada de cancelaciones y posposiciones de eventos mundiales, se suma el 1er Red Sea International Film Festival que iba a tener lugar del 11 al 22 de marzo en Arabia Saudita y donde quien redacta, en nombre de Nota Clave, había sido invitado al evento.
Hay que destacar la gran amabilidad de los organizadores y las facilidades que brindaron para realizar un viaje tan largo, desde el Caribe hasta el Mar Rojo en lo que parecía iba a ser una memorable estadía.
Los organizadores del evento han enviado una carta personal a cada invitado en la que explican los motivos de la posposición de lo que esperábamos -y estamos convencidos que será cuando llegue el momento de su realización- fuese una gran fiesta del cine mundial y del mundo árabe.
La misiva firmada por el director del festival dice así:
«Querido invitado,
Le escribo con noticias desafortunadas: dada la actual emergencia sanitaria mundial, nuestra consideración principal es la seguridad y el bienestar de nuestros invitados, personal y público, se ha tomado la difícil decisión de posponer la primera edición del Festival Internacional de Cine del Mar Rojo. Se llegó a esta conclusión mediante consultas con las autoridades locales y nacionales y con base en la información más reciente disponible para nosotros en esta situación de continuos cambios.
Confiamos en que, a su debido tiempo, el Festival será reprogramado y que podremos lograr todo lo que hemos planeado y trabajado en los últimos 12 meses. Las nuevas fechas para la edición 2020 se anunciarán tan pronto como sea posible. Seguimos siendo optimistas, apasionados y comprometidos con lo que este evento significa para Arabia Saudita, el mundo árabe y la comunidad cinematográfica mundial y esperamos que puedan compartir esta perspectiva, a pesar de la difícil situación a corto plazo.

To the cascade of cancellations and postposition of world events, is added the 1st Red Sea International Film Festival that was going to take place from March 11 to 22 in Saudi Arabia and where whoever writes, on behalf of Key Note, had been invited to the event.
It is necessary to highlight the great kindness of the organizers and the facilities they offered to make such a long trip, from the Caribbean to the Red Sea in what seemed to be a memorable stay.
The organizers of the event have sent a personal letter to each guest explaining the reasons for the postponement of what we expected – and we are convinced that it will be when the time comes for its realization – it was a great festival of world cinema and the Arab world.
«Dear Guest,
I am writing to you with unfortunate news – given the current global health emergency, our primary consideration being the safety and wellbeing of our guests, staff and audiences, the difficult decision has been taken to postpone the first edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival. This conclusion has been reached through consultation with local and national authorities and based on the latest information available to us in this fast-moving situation.
We are confident that, in due course, the Festival will be rescheduled and that we will be able to achieve all that we have planned and worked towards over the past 12-months. The new dates for the 2020 edition will be announced as soon as feasible. We remain optimistic, passionate, and committed to what this event means for Saudi Arabia, the Arab world, and the global film community and hope you can share in this outlook – despite the trying short-term situation.
