MOSCU, RUSIA. Uno de los más populares cantantes rusos, Iósif Kabzón falleció este jueves 30 de agosto en Moscú, a la edad de 80 años.
Kabzón, quien luchó contra un cáncer durante diez años, habían sido hospitalizado a finales de julio.
Era quizás, junto a Alla Pugachova, uno de los más reconocidos cantantes de la música popular de la era soviética y luego de la etapa rusa. Su repertorio estaba compuesto por unas 3.000 canciones y tenía una activa vida política, social, benéfica, enseñaba en varias universidades y era empresario.
Su voz se escuchó en el tema de la popular serie de televisión Diecisiete instantes de una primavera, sí como en en innumerables filmes y en cada marcha y desfile militar o civil en la época soviética. Realizó conciertos para las tropas rusas durante las guerras de Afganistán, Chechenia y Siria. Obtuvo numerosos premios y condecoraciones estatales y fue reconocido como Héroe del Trabajo en la Federación Rusa, Artista del Pueblo de la URSS y ganador del Premio Estatal de la URSS en 1984.
A partir de 2004, fue miembro del partido Rusia Unida y fue diputado de la Duma Estatal (Cámara Baja del Parlamento ruso) desde la II hasta la VII legislatura.
